Drusilla’s Inn is a traditional thatched Wessex Freehouse set in rolling Dorset countryside with uninterrupted views of the historic Horton Folly Tower. Only 1.5 miles from our Bed & Breakfast.

Wobbly walls, low ceilings, open fires and exposed beams all add to Drusilla’s olde worlde charm.  Drusilla’s offers a range of menus from bar snacks to a la carte featuring free range, hand reared local produce.

They are open 7 days a week, from 10am to 11pm.  Usually serving food between 12 and 3pm at lunchtime and 6 – 9pm evenings.

History

Home of the Bankes family for more than 300 years, this striking 17th-century house is noted for its lavish interiors. The outstanding art collection includes paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and Tintoretto, with the largest private collection of Egyptian artefacts in the UK. Outside, stroll across the beautiful lawns towards the restored Japanese tea garden. There are several waymarked walks through the surrounding parkland, with its fine herd of North Devon cattle, and the 3,443-hectare (8,500-acre) estate is dominated by the Iron Age hillfort of Badbury Rings, home to fourteen varieties of orchid.

The Priest’s House Museum & Garden is set in an historic town house where a series of period rooms takes the visitor back through the centuries. From the 17th century hall to the Georgian parlour and working Victorian kitchen, our rooms show what life and work was like for people in the past.

The Museum tells the story of East Dorset from prehistoric to modern times. With hands-on activities in the archaeology, childhood and East Dorset villages galleries, there is plenty to do and see!

MODEL TOWN AT WIMBORNE MINSTER

In the heart of nearby Wimborne Minster is the model town. Built well over 50 years ago, the magnificent 1/10th scale models continue to surprise and amaze visitors from all over the world with their superb quality and realism.

The fun family worksheets suitable for all age groups which are provided free of charge, lead you through the many Streets and Lanes including the colourful prize-winning gardens, searching for those elusive clues. Eventually you approach Wendy Street, a designated safe play area for younger visitors. The four Wendy Houses provide hours of amusement while the grown ups sample the fresh, mouthwatering home made fayre available from the
